SOPHIA is guided by a Steering Committee that leads organizational development and implementation of member services. SOPHIA’s Committees plan and implement activities to help move the organization toward fulfillment of its strategic objectives. Committees are always looking for additional participation; participants must be SOPHIA members. Member Services:

  • Ongoing communications and support for members
  • Welcome new members to SOPHIA
  • Website, newsletter, trainings etc.
  • Connect members to HIA mentors
  • Plan in-person and virtual member networking opportunities

Growth and Partnerships:

  • Strengthen partnerships with other HIA and HiAP organizations, across non-health sectors, and the international community
  • Grow SOPHIA's visibility in the HIA and HiAP fields
  • Fundraise for general operating funds, and sponsorships for specific activities

HIA Practitioner Workshop:

  • Plan and organize our semi-annual workshop

HIA Journal:

  • Work with the editorial board to produce the Chronicles of Health Impact Assessment, in partnership with Indiana University

Other committees, such as Strategic Planning, are not permanent and convene on an as-needed basis.
